源自中古英语 how ever,由 how(如何)和 ever(曾经)组合演变而来,最初用于强调疑问或条件。
❶ 表示转折或对比,用于引出与前面内容相反或不同的信息,相当于中文的“然而”“可是”。
“She was very tired; however, she continued working.”
(她非常疲惫,然而她继续工作。)
“The weather was bad; however, we still went hiking.”
(天气很糟糕,可是我们还是去徒步了。)
❶ 表示无论如何、不管怎样,用于强调某种情况不受其他因素影响,相当于中文的“无论如何”。
