源自古英语'wyrm',原意泛指蛇或龙,后演变为专指蠕虫。与德语'Wurm'同源,印欧语词根*wr̥mis(蠕动的生物)。计算机术语首次使用于1975年约翰·布鲁纳的小说《震荡波骑士》。
